Dear Mom – you are such a special lady. Thank you for giving me a model for kindness, sweetness and hope. I miss your sweet, calm nature and wish I had more years to spend with you as an adult. You are so missed.
So much to say about your Mom! What always stood out to me most, was her sweet nature. I will always recall her calm, soothing voice (mixed with a hint of Southern : ). I love the way she laughed and how she was always so happy to see me. She made me feel so special! But her eyes always lit up most when she was around or talking about her children. You 3 kids were indeed the light of her life. She was so proud of you all & loved you to the ends of the earth.
Kate was and is my best friend, so I may have spent more time at the Cooley house while growing up than my own, I do believe! And Mabel was always so welcoming. For that, I will forever hold her special in my heart. Mabel’s quirkiness and eccentricities made her so interesting and endearing to me. Her passing is like the end of an era in my eyes. I would love to see her again wearing that big, white hat driving that big, white car through town, but am happy she is at peace now. During your mourning, I know you are remembering that you had the best Mommy ever. And you can feel good knowing you have an Angel in her. And I thank you for being a huge part of my life, Mabel & the Cooley clan. I love you all! XOXOXO
Thank you Nic – mom loved you so much. Thank you for these sweet words.
Mabel was a wonderful mother-in-law to me. She was sweet and kind and had a certain calmness about her. She lived at my house for about 5 years after leaving Galion, it was then that I got to know her and realized what a special women she was and yes, she did have quite a selection of hats. She cherished her children and her grandchildren and spoke often of all her friends in Galion. Her family, Vic, Kate, Charles, Beck, Niki, and I have been celebrating her life for several days here in Houston. She will always live in our hearts.
Hugs Arlene. Thank you for being a part of our family – we love you!
My mom was sweet and she is in me and always will be. She passed along the traditions of her parents and the conditions of her upbringing and so continues our ever-extending journey. Thanks to all for their warm remembrances and celebrations of Mabel’s life.
All my memories of Mabel include her calm, gentle voice, and the patient way she took her time to speak her words. She was kindness incarnate, with love galore. I picture her in a big floppy hat, laughing at whatever Kate just said. May her soul be at peace.
Victor, Charles, Kate & family,
We were saddened to learn of your Mother’s recent passing.
She was in our TWIG # 3 of Galion Hospital’s Auxiliary for many years.
She was always so proud of her family, especially the grandchildren. She would show us the recent pictures she had received.
Our thoughts & prayers are with all of you,
Mary Anne Iles and TWIG # 3 members
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts Mary Anne – she loved TWIG, it would mean so much to her to know you are thinking of her.
Mabel — I wish I have known you for a longer time. Your sweet and kind nature is an example to all of us. I can vividly hear your loud and contagious laughs. I loved to tease you so we could all hear you laugh; it brought a smile to everyone’s face every time. But what I loved the most was travelling with you — I could hear for hours your detailed accounts of how life was back then and how much each thing costed or your summer trips to Florida with the kids. You made our long roadtrip to Saint Augustine a breeze! It was fun and I will miss you.
You also thought us not to heat a potato wrapped in paper towel in the microwave. You attempted and almost set our house on fire!
Thanks for your beautiful legacy!
Gil Boas
